Honestly, I'm not sure how it happened. But, once one jumped in, more followed!
Actually...Souldrain (Shadowbolt Spam) was posting Warlock guides in the forums and people started posting lolcat pictures on the thread and he complained. So, I suggested he start a blog and they wouldn't be able to do that there. ;)
